Framed vs. frameless: what are the pros and cons?

Framed packs

Pros: A frame helps transfer load to the hip belt, adds structure, and generally carries heavier gear, food, and water more comfortably. A good choice for longer trips or when your kit is still coming together.

Cons: Frames add weight and can make a pack bulkier and less flexible. Proper torso length and hip-belt fit matter.

Pros: Usually lighter, simpler, and more flexible. Great for a compact, lightweight kit and trips where you can keep your total load low.

Cons: Packing technique matters more, and heavier loads can put more pressure on your shoulders. Support and load transfer vary by model and hip belt.

Choose by your total carried weight—including food and water—not just your base weight. Check each manufacturer’s recommended load and try the pack with your own kit; comfort is personal.

Is this a rental or a gear demo?

Both. Rent for a trip or use a rental to try a pack before buying one elsewhere. The rate and return rules are the same. Rental payments are not purchase credit, and the packs remain Harrison’s property.

How are rental days counted?

Both the first and last dates count. Friday through Sunday is 3 rental days. A flat $35 round-trip UPS shipping fee per pack is added to the total before payment, and transit time is not included in your paid rental-day estimate.

Can I pick up a pack or have it shipped?

Both options are planned. Shipping is a flat $35 per pack via UPS, covering delivery and the return label. Pickup location and shipping service areas will be confirmed before bookings open. Pickup and return instructions will appear in your booking record.

What if I damage or lose the pack?

Existing wear is documented before your rental. The proposed policy requires payment of the disclosed original purchase cost for new damage beyond ordinary wear, loss, theft, or nonreturn, subject to applicable law. Any claim must be supported with evidence and cannot duplicate other recovery. Read the draft agreement.

Do I need a card on file?

Yes. Your card is saved securely through checkout, with separate consent for documented charges under the agreement. You receive an itemized claim and at least 7 days’ notice before a later charge. We never collect your full card number in this website’s forms.

Will a medium pack fit me?

Sizing varies by brand and model. Check the manufacturer’s torso and hip-belt guidance before booking. Twelve packs are listed as medium; the Pemi 15 is XL. A demo is a useful way to test fit with your own load.

Can I book right now?

This is the launch preview. You can browse the real collection and estimate a rental, but reservations and payments open after pack condition records, original purchase costs, payment setup, and fulfillment details are finalized.
